Riccardo Ponzone, PhD, MD

Dr. Ponzone is the Director of the Gynecological Oncology at the Candiolo Cancer Institute, Turin, Italy. Dr. Ponzone’s clinical practice is devoted to the care of women with breast and gynecological cancers.

In 1995-1996, during his specialization in Gynecological and Obstetrics at The University of Turin, he attended the Department of Academic Surgery of the Royal Marsden Hospital and at the Department of Academic Surgery of the University College Hospital, London, UK, chaired by Professor Michael Baum. In 2003 he obtained a PhD in Oncological Sciences in Gynecology at the University of Rome. From 1999 to 2009 he worked as attending Gynecologist at the Academic Division of Gynecological Oncology, University of Turin, chaired by Professor Piero Sismondi. Since 2010 he serves as Director of the Division of Gynecological Oncology at the Candiolo Cancer Institute, Turin, Italy.

Between 2004 and 2012, he has been Lecturer and then Adjunct Professor at the Postgraduate School of Specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology and at the School for Professional Nurses, University of Turin. In 2014 he obtained the National Academic Qualification as Associate Professor in Gynecology and Obstetrics.

He has been investigator in several national and international trials of medical and surgical treatments for breast cancer conducted in Italy and in U.K, and in several research projects funded by different regional and national bodies. He is author and co-author of more than 100 papers on peer-reviewed international journals, as well as book chapters, guidelines and viewpoints.
