Dr. Yamamoto is a chief in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM). He is also the director of Supermicrosurgery International Lymphedema Center and the director of Advanced Clinical Training program in NCGM. He is currently an Executive Committee and the Asia Young Lymphologist Officer of International Society of Lymphology.
He has dedicated in all fields of reconstructive surgeries for cancer, trauma, congenital, and any other etiology cases, including breast reconstruction and lymphedema treatment. Among various fields of reconstructive microsurgery, he is working especially on supermicrosurgical reconstruction and lymphedema surgery, developing new methods for less invasive treatments and more practically-useful evaluations.
Dr. Yamamoto has published over 190 peer-reviewed PubMed-indexed articles among which over 80 articles are published as the first author. He has won more than 10 international prizes for outstanding presentation, and has been invited to give lectures at more than 100 national and international symposiums and meetings and to perform live demonstrations and surgeries abroad on more than 100 cases.
He is a world-leading expert of lymphatic supermicrosurgery or supermicrosurgical lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA) for the treatment of lymphedema; he has anastomosed more than 10,000 lymph vessels since 2011.
