Peter W. Henderson is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, New York. He graduated from Harvard University (BA, biology) Weill Cornell Medical College (MD with honors), and New York University Stern School of Business (MBA). He completed residencies in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Additionally, he completed a 2-year research fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College focusing on tissue engineering and ischemia-reperfusion injury, and a fellowship in advanced microsurgical reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is board certified in both Surgery (2013) and Plastic Surgery (2018).
Dr. Henderson is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation.
Dr. Henderson an active researcher with a large research team. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, presented over 100 abstracts, and contributed 17 textbook and multimedia chapters. He has presented at regional, national, and international settings.
His team’s currents interests involve the restoration of breast sensation after excision, financial toxicity after breast cancer treatment and reconstruction, advanced methods for autologous breast reconstruction, and microsurgery skills training.
