Multi-stage fat grafting for total breast reconstruction after mastectomy
Abstract
Post-mastectomy patients who are unwilling or deemed too high risk for implant or flap-based reconstruction have an alternative option for breast reconstruction. Our study evaluated the use of multi-stage fat grafting after mastectomy for total breast reconstruction. Our technique produced successful aesthetic outcomes in terms of both volume and shape. In certain patient populations, serial, staged fat grafting is a viable alternative that can produce satisfactory results with minimal complications or donor site morbidity.
